Congratulations to the winner of the 2024 Amador Poetry Out Loud Championship!

On January 28th, Madison Noelle, a junior at Amador High won the Amador Championship with her recitations:

Golden Hour by Kimberly Casey and

Altered, After Too Many Years Under the Mask by CAConrad.

As the winner, Madison receives a series of Poetry Out Loud workshops taught by Teaching Artist, Meghan Joy “mojo” O’Keefe with support from Amador-celebrity and long-time Teaching Artist, Giles Turner, a retired credentialed teacher (please see the image below). According to O’Keefe, “Madison is investing so much time and energy into high-level text analysis, vocalization, and emotional connection. It is an honor to collaborate with such a vibrant and committed young creative.”

You can support Madison at the State Championship by joining us virtually on March 18th. The competition begins at 8 AM and the streaming links will be posted to the California Arts Council social media accounts and at the

CA Poetry Out Loud website.

The Amador Poetry Out Loud program was launched in 2016 and is available to all high school students in Amador County. Find out more on our Poetry Out Loud page here.

Student Directed Opportunities!

Free creative space for youth aged 15 to 17.

Student-Directed Opportunities welcome youth into the creative workforce and allow them a leadership role in shaping the future arts + cultural workforce of our robust community.

Due to growing production costs and declining donations, the Amador County Arts Council cannot sustain the program as previously produced.

Many thanks for our partnership with the Amador County Recreation Agency.

Get ready for a fabulous season of live music in beautiful Pioneer, CA. Bring your picnics, enjoy free arts activities, snack shack options, and the best bands in Amador County.

YOU nominated the bands and WE hired your favorites!

The annual Student Art Show is produced in partnership with the Amador County Unified School District and features work by rural creatives in grades TK through 6th at 100% of the public school sites in Amador County. These students receive 1 to 2 classes per year from Teaching Artists hired by the Amador County Arts Council to bring standard-based visual and poetic arts.

Public receptions will take place on May 1st and 8th from 5 to 7 PM.

LOCATION: Amador County Unified School District Office, 217 Rex Ave. Jackson

The show runs from April 22 to May 17, Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Students in TK-6th grades love to see their art exhibited at the annual Student Art Show, produced by the Amador County Arts Council since 2013 in partnership with the school district.
