Why Are All The Concerts In One Spot?

The Amador County Arts Council has been honored to provide free live music since 1998. The decision to sustain the concerts in one location is purely to provide enough money to continue to produce them at all.

Here are the factors that lead to this decision:

The concert series has been losing money since 2012 when employees were hired to run the program.

The total value of donations that the public makes at these concerts has not increased above the amount they were donating in 2009.

The costs of the bands, venues, printing, advertising, live music licenses, and insurance have all increased exponentially.
Attendance to the concerts held in the cities has significantly declined since 2019.
The last year that the concerts made profits was in 2011, which is the last year that the program was entirely run by volunteers. (However, at that time, mandatory live music licenses were not being purchased and venue fees were $0).

Families living in “Up Country” areas such as Pioneer have nearly zero access to free live music and free arts and cultural activities, which is not true in the towns.
Please feel free to contact us for more information.
