Student Director Annabel White Off To College
As Annabel White embarks on her college journey at Colombia Community College in August, we celebrate her impactful 2 years with the Amador County Arts Council.
“Being a Student Director assisted in the growth of my confidence when using my voice to discuss and advocate for what I believed in,” Says Annabel. The Amador Arts Student Director Program is designed to help students overcome these challenges, build confidence, and energize their pursuit of a career in the arts.

Art Sparks Joy: A Commitment to Mental Health in Amador County
The Amador County Arts Council is committed to mental health for all rural folks, especially rural youth in our rural schools where bullying and othering are common.
Our Art Sparks Joy #artsparksjoy campaign aims to raise awareness of the silent dangers of rural living. The isolation, lack of transportation and mental health services, and stigmas against speaking help can lead to increased mental health concerns. According to the Rural Health Information Hub, the suicide rate is nearly twice as high in most rural areas of the U.S. compared to urban areas, with men being most at risk. This is why connections within our community are so important. Connections can save lives, and so can reaching out.
Amador Arts fosters community and aids in suicide prevention through safe spaces, awareness, and youth engagement at the intersection of arts, culture, and creativity. Strengthening our cultural fabric supports mental health and saves lives.
Join our campaign by sharing our graphics on social media. Together, we can make a difference. September is International Suicide Prevention Month. The graphics below are free for you to use to promote our shared role in preventing suicide.

The Amador County Arts Council grants put artists to work. Our grants-giving funds arts education, live music, and public art. This program is supported by business sponsorships and individual donations.
So what is Public Art, anyway?
Public Art is art in any media whose form, function, and meaning are created for the general public through a public process.
Here are some examples of public art:
If you want to see more public art in Amador County, consider joining our efforts. With more hands and hearts at the table, we can put more funding to paying artists to do their work for the benefit and beautification of our community. Get in touch with us today to talk about the ways you can be part of our work. Call or text us at (209)256-8166, info@amadorart.org.
