Continued from Arts Line August 2020.

Deja Douglas was one of AmadorArts first Student Directors in 2018. She was President of the Argonaut Art Club. She produced a short video about why the arts matter for a statewide “Student Voices” campaign which tied for first place. She worked with the Amador Alliance for Arts Education to secure LCAP funds for arts education, and advocated the school district to adopt the Declaration for Equity in Arts Learning. She created the life-like drawing of the 2019 Patron the Arts, Radio Master Jim Guidi. The framed artwork was Jim’s award.

Deja was the inspiration behind the exhibit “ROOTS –A Black Heritage Art Show” in the AmadorArts Gallery and said, “Being involved in something that’s the first-ever in this county is so exciting, especially to see how the community responded.”
On how to apply for the 2021 Arts Scholarship, contact your local high school, whether it’s the two mentioned above or the Independence High School in Sutter Creek or Mountain Oaks Home School in Ione.
