Amador County Arts Council (“AmadorArts”) and The Pony Farm are proud to present sound artist and contemporary musician, Micaela Tobin, live at Amador City on the Imperial Hotel front patio. This pop-up, 30-minute performance will take place at sunset and is FREE for all to attend on Thursday, August 12. Delight in the contemporary sounds of Micaela Tobin, a touring artist from Los Angeles, who is completing an Artist Residency at the up-country facility called Pony Farm Artist Residency Project.
Micaela Tobin is a soprano, sound artist, and teacher who specializes in experimental voice and contemporary opera and composition. She has performed extensively throughout the western United States, most notably as a guest with hip-hop experimentalist clipping, during their 2017 tour in support of The Flaming Lips. Micaela’s most recent full length release, “BAKUNAWA” (Deathbomb Arc) is part sonic ritual, part diasporic storytelling.
For those who want to get to know more about the artist’s unique techniques, Micaela Tobin will be offering a FREE vocal workshop on August 7th at 11 AM at AmadorArts in Jackson. Visit amadorarts.org/resources/artsed/ for more information on Micaela Tobin’s Healing Voice workshop. Space is limited and will be filled first-come, first-served.
Pony Farm Artist Residency is a new partner to AmadorArts and is located in the up-country region of rural Amador County, attracting world-wide artists to a rural setting where they can further their practice and serve our community with their creative works. Find out more at theponyfarm.com.
