Deadline November 27,2020

California requires that CARES ACT monies be regranted to organizations serving and supporting the arts and cultures of Communities of Color in Amador County. This is YOUR opportunity to start a new charity or program!

On May 8, 2020, The California Arts Council (CAC) held an emergency virtual meeting to conduct urgent business surrounding federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) funding and other means of financial support for arts & cultural organizations amid the COVID-19 public health crisis. Council members voted unanimously to distribute the $710,400 of State Arts Agency CARES Act funding awarded by the National Endowment from the Arts to the 53 State Local Partner (AKA “Art Council”) grantees on an opt-in basis. Amador County Arts Council (“AmadorArts”) opted into and received the funding (in the amount of $15,787) for this new grant program.

The CAC decision requires recipients to re-grant 80 percent of the CARES funds to charity organizations that serve local Communities of Color. These Art Councils may use up to 20 percent of the funds for operational needs, supporting administration.

Emergent organizations are encouraged to apply even if they have not yet formally organized. This grant can help you establish or launch your organization.

Existing organizations are also welcome to apply.

If you are receiving CARES ACT money through a different source, you are not eligible to apply according to the guidelines provided by California.

Arts Grant funds from the government may not be used for supplies, food, or construction.
