Leslie Vasquez
Public speaker, storyteller, & performance art.
  Contact: vaz@volcano.net; cell (775)303-5844

Leslie Vasquez offers public speaking with a twist -- using stories of interest as the basis she adds music, movement, humor and sometimes fine art to create a performance art experience that is entertaining and profound. She's told educational stories to classrooms of school children, musical fiction stories on stage in theatres (accompanied by her husband, guitarist Dave Vasquez), birth stories at conventions, and personal stories about the couple of honor at 50th-wedding anniversary parties. She's been requested to teach Leave No Trace to school groups both on the trail and in the classroom more times than she can count.

Locally, you may recognize her as a tour guide at Black Chasm Caverns, occasional stints on TSPN local TV, or from her outdoor column in the Upcountry News and West Point News newspapers years ago. For several years Leslie was the Director of the Mother's Club of Amador County but most locals know her as an outdoor enthusiast who kayaked and backpacked with her babies (and now with her kids) and as the mom who gave birth to her baby in her car in the lane of traffic. Ask her about that one; it's one story you gotta hear directly from her.

She definitely grew up in performance world -- her mother is a professional bass player in the Reno/Tahoe area who's played with Sinatra, Red Skelton, John Denver, and The Moody Blues (just to name a few) as well as symphonys, ballets, and orchestras. Leslie has fond backstage memories like being tweeked on the cheek by Sammy Davis Jr., hanging out with George Benson's son while waiting for the show to finish, and watching ballet's from the wings.

Before each performance, Leslie does extensive research and conducts interviews to accurately cater the message to the client and incorporates audience members through ad lib additions based on their reactions during the telling. And she practices profusely to improve her delivery with each performance.

To hire Leslie for a speaking engagement whether a professional or private function as entertainment or education, contact her cell phone at (775) 303-5844 or email her at vaz@volcano.net  Visit her web site at www.leslievasquez.net.
